Switzerland has 7 national thru-hiking trails. I selected the Alpine Panorama Trail or Alpenpanorama Weg, Swiss National Route 3 because it follows along the front range of the Alps for the width of the country. The trail also travels through the most prominent farming and food production areas in Switzerland with accessible trailheads for day hikes.
I felt this trail gave me the best opportunity to learn about the Swiss culture and history. I hoped I would explore parts of the country that tourists typically do not visit. As well as some spots that are tourist familiar.
If you decide to hike this trail, I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
