The Ägerisee (Lake Ägeri) is the main draw for the area. In this video, I’m walking from the Ägerisee through the town of Unterägeri. It’s a beautiful day. As with almost every Swiss Mountain Lake, I want to swim, hike and boat. Today, I have to settle for hiking from this great-looking lake to the next great-looking lake, Lake Zug.
The Ägeri valley is a hidden treasure south of Zurich and East of Zug. Not on the tourist circuit yet look at how beautiful this area is. The Swiss know about this place and that’s why Unterägeri is a bit of a resort town.
Sometimes the Alp houses are Inns with rooms and it’s possible to reset the hiking schedule to accommodate staying on the mountain. I would continue along this stage until the end, but a hardy lunch at the Alpwirtschaft Brunegg (Brunegg Alphouse) is a must. https://alpwirtschaft-brunegg.jimdofr… Meal 1: Schweinsschnitzel paniert mit Zitrone oder Natur Meal 2: Berner Rösti mit 2 Spiegeleier, Speckwürfel und Zwiebeln No Käse dish (cheese dish) was on the menu.
After lunch at the Alpwirtschaft Brunegg, the hike became a bit more difficult on a full stomach. We ran into a group of cows that blocked our path and I talk about this in the video.
Finishing Stage 9 brings us to a downhill hike, past St. Verena Chapel and down into the old town of Zug. The views looking south and west into the Central Swiss Alps are worth watching till the end.
Stage 9 ends in the wealthy town of Zug along the Zugersee (Lake Zug). Zug’s old town and original fortifications are 1,000 years old. The first ‘big’ city on the trail, Zug has a population of 30,000. This is a great town to stop for the evening and experience a cosmopolitan atmosphere.
