Swiss Alpine Panorama Trail, Segment 21, #1 – Jaun to Gruyères. Hiking past the Jaun waterfall is a great way to start the day. I like this town and the unknown cheese I describe is actually a Jaun area specialty with a thick herb rind.
Swiss Alpine Panorama Trail, Segment 21, #2 – Jaun to Gruyères. The Jaunbach River Valley is about 10km long and features fantastic Alp vistas. I talk about the smell, which is an invigorating spring-like smell.
Swiss Alpine Panorama Trail, Segment 21, #3 – Jaun to Gruyères. Charmey is a cool Swiss town of under 2,000 people. Perfectly placed in the heart of the Gruyere Cheese region, Charmey is a wonderful spot to visit.
Swiss Alpine Panorama Trail, Segment 21, #4 – Jaun to Gruyères. First, I walk along the Lac de Montselvens. It gets more exciting when I reach the Montselvens Dam. The Montselvens Dam, built in 1920, is one of Europe’s first double-arched dams. The 52 meter high dam offers great views of Lake Montsalvens and the Jaunabachschlucht Gorge, or in French, Gorge de la Jonge.
Swiss Alpine Panorama Trail, Segment 21, #5 – Jaun to Gruyères. The Jaunbach Gorge is a dip into someplace extraordinary. Switzerland is obviously known for its Alps and altitude. However, these mountains create rivers that create lowland canyons such as this beautiful gorge. Bridges, tunnels, and waterfalls are in order for a day hike here. This is the first of two 360 degree videos in the Jaunbach Gorge
Swiss Alpine Panorama Trail, Segment 21, #6 – Jaun to Gruyères. Every step I took in the gorge activated my mind. This is an exciting journey just on the outskirts of Broc, Switzerland. If you take a day trip to the Lac de Montselvens, the Montselvens Dam, and Jaunbach Gorge, make sure to schedule a chocolate factory tour at Maison Cailler. Cailler is my favorite Swiss chocolate because they use condensed milk. https://cailler.ch/en/cailler-experie…
Swiss Alpine Panorama Trail, Segment 21, #7 – Jaun to Gruyères. The town of Gruyères is a day trip unto itself or better an overnight destination. If you are hiking the Swiss Alpine National Trail, I highly recommend overnights in this area: Jaun, Gruyères, Les Paccots, and everywhere along Lake Geneva. I have several 360-degree videos of Gruyères, this is the surrounding area.
