My Story

No Television, No Microwave, No Motor Cars – Experiencing the Swiss way of life with my legs, an iPhone and a 360° VR Camera.

I met my Swiss girlfriend while hiking around Mt. Assiniboine, the Matterhorn of Canada. We specifically met at GPS coordinates: 50° 54′ 36” N, 115° 37′ 14” W. My sister was fond of saying, “Only my brother could go into the woods alone and come out with a girlfriend.” Since then, I’ve spent years traveling to and from Switzerland, actively trying to experience the Swiss way of life.

I’ve tried to systematically travel through Switzerland in a provocative and meaningful way. I started with the standard tourist destinations plus some hiking, skiing, and biking. Then I began learning the early history of the country as a means to create new hiking destinations, ie castles, and cities. Finally, I began learning about the regions through Cheese since I was experiencing farming up close while in the Alps. All the while, natural events and holidays occurred. Over time, I’ve been able to categorize the country by the time of year and location.

Plus I go to other places and I hike a lot. My relationship has never been better and I’m learning. This blog allows me to capture and remember my experiences in words, photos, and film. This blog also allows me to share these experiences with friends, family, and anyone else interested.
